A few things you MUST KNOW!  Please go to “Participants Info” and PRINT out your waivers to sign and bring with you, if you have not already sent them in (thank you!).  The weekend’s schedules will soon be posted there, as well.  Schedules will be posted in the common areas and Dining Hall and we’ll remind you about what’s going on each day, but if you’d like your own paper copy, please go to the website to print it out to bring with you.  There’s also a ‘Delmarva Dictionary’ compiled by Dubside, to help you get “in the know” on some of the unique aspects of Greenland kayaking in general and Delmarva in particular.  Maps and a list of suggested things to bring can be found on the website.

We have an amazing roster of special guests for 2017! By popular request, Anders Thygesen and Christopher Crowhurst will be joining us again this year, along with Dubside!

Wednesday’s early arrivals will have the option to join us at Dogfish Head Brewpub in Rehoboth Beach for dinner (be there by 7:00 PM). Thursday will give you the chance to meet up with fellow paddlers and explore the area on your own, followed by Round One of ‘Getting Into Peter’s Shorts!’  The fun begins in earnest on Friday, with skills classes throughout the day, paddle making with Don Beale, rope gymnastics, and presentations after dinner.  Saturday will be a busy day, with on-water skills mentoring and classes, ropes competition, and kayak games, followed by evening presentations, including the live auction, hosted in the Quail’s Nest.  Then we get up on Sunday and do it all again!  We told you that Anders and Ralph have been putting their heads together, and they’re raising the challenge with a Kayak Build Competition!  Check out the rules and start thinking about your best kayak design!  We’ll finish the day with lunch, a raffle, packing up, fond farewells to friends old and new, and heading back to reality…. except for those fortunate enough to relax and enjoy an extra night to leave on Monday.

Throughout the weekend, Dave Niles will continue his helpful ‘Guide on the Side’ series to help you understand the tools we use to build these fine qajaqs.  For those early risers who want to improve their flexibility for rolling practice, there will be a yoga class in the Quail’s Nest at 6:30 each morning before breakfast.

Silent and live auction items will be displayed in the Dining Hall through Saturday evening.  Donations of unique, kayak-related, or hand crafted items for the silent and live auctions or the raffle are always welcome and deeply appreciated. All proceeds from the auctions and raffle go directly back to defraying expenses for the Delmarva Paddlers Retreat, allowing us to host our special guests and continue to keep registration fees reasonable.

Meals at Delmarva are served family style: 7:30-8:30 AM Breakfast; 12-1PM Lunch; 6-7PM Dinner.  If you have special dietary needs (other than vegetarian), you may wish to bring supplemental food with you.  Jim does a great job preparing wonderful meals for us, but if you need to prepare something in particular due to dietary restrictions, we’ll make sure you have a place to store and prepare your food.
